TESTIMONIALS
"..your institute in Croatia gave me a great validated push to corroborate our literature review and self audit . It was like the pieces of a jigsaw came together. The lit review focused on the cognitive benefits of home language support and development, and information from your workshop completed the picture with the summary of changes in academic thought from bilingualism to plurilingualism."

"I attended a workshop on EAL and MT in Sotogrande, Spain. Workshop leaders were Catherine Copeland (Director, Global EDGEucation) and Niki Cooper (EAL and MT coordinator UWC Maastricht). It was such an informative and interesting, useful workshop. I just finished my first year as a language coordinator at the American International School of Rotterdam where we piloted an entire new department of Mother-Tongue instruction in eight different languages and a continuation of Language acquisition courses. I was hungry for feedback, ideas, suggestions and I was well 'fed'. Catherine and Niki are extremely well prepared and very experienced. As is so often the case with people from different international schools, all schools face different problems and challenges. It was so comforting that all questions could be asked during these training days and they would think with you about all different solutions and possibilities. What I specially liked was the pace of the workshop, they both spoke in a clear and understandable manner (important for non-native speakers), there were daily summaries, written down on big paper and hung on the wall, so that you got a good overview. I left the workshop with a head full of ideas on how to progress with my programme back home; ideas on alignment, differentiation, assessment, scaffolding, using CEFR rubrics, writing a whole school language policy, et cetera. Of course all of this in the luxury, beautiful setting of the south f Spain! Thanks Catherine and Niki!"

The language institute, which I attended was extremely helpful. I returned after the well-organized and informative 3 days full of specific ideas to take into my multi-lingual classroom, both in terms of teaching and learning activities and in overall approaches to multi-lingual literacy. Catherine and Niki also offered practical advice on how best to structure and improve Mother Tongue programming. Equally enriching were the contributions from the other attendees. The institute provided a welcome forum for those of us in similar situations but from various places to share what’s happening in our schools, challenges, perspectives, and ways forward.
